Indore, Jul 11 The Madhya Pradesh Police has arrested a 21-year-old man from Maharashtra for allegedly threatening an industrialist here for settling a financial dispute with a builder.
Suraj Dubey was arrested Wednesday from Kalyan near Mumbai.
Various cases including attempt to murder and cheque bouncing have been registered against him in Mumbai, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ruchivardhan Mishra Thursday.
Dubey allegedly threatened local industrialist and social worker Ramesh Baheti at the behest of Chirag Joshi, a builder, she said.
Joshi has a financial dispute with a company since 2007-08 when Baheti was its owner, she said. Now the company is being run by another person.
“Dubey called Baheti over phone, identifying himself as `Prathmesh Parab’. He allegedly threatened the industrialist and asked him to sort out the dispute with Joshi by giving him money, which runs into crores of rupees,” the SSP said.
Baheti disconnected the phone, following which Dubey allegedly sent him text and voice messages on WhatsApp, saying he would face dire consequences if he did not settle the dispute, she said.
Police were looking for Joshi who had allegedly hired Dubey, Mishra said, adding that further investigation is underway.
