New Delhi: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP from Puri Pinaki Misra Tuesday asked the administration to acquire a Bill the House for conceding 50 percent reservation to ladies in panchayat decisions.
Talking in the Lower House during the Question Hour, the BJD Parliamentary Party pioneer said that the BJD government in Odisha has given 50 percent reservation to the ladies in panchayats.
“Ladies reservation in panchayat decisions is significant. Prior, the previous boss priest of Odisha Biju Patnaik ji had held 1/3 situates in panchayat races for ladies which is currently expanded to 50 percent by Naveen Patnaik ji. As indicated by Article 243 (D) of the Constitution, Parliament has the ability to make arrangement of giving 50 percent reservation to ladies in panchayat bodies,” said Pinaki Misra.
He further said that it is a significant issue and encouraged the legislature to consider activity of giving 50 percent reservation to ladies the nation over.
“Today we have 78 ladies MPs in the House. We need more than 200-250 ladies to be chosen for this House and for that booking in panchayat bodies is significant. Will the legislature acquire an enactment with this impact in the House and get it passed,” said Misra.
In his answer, Union Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that there are numerous states in the nation which have conceded 50 percent reservation to ladies in panchayat races. He further said that there are 2,53,380 panchayats in the nation which choose 31 lakh individuals as their agents and out of that 14.39 lakh are ladies delegates. Tomar additionally said that the Union government is thinking about this issue.
