Coimbatore: A Muslim couple went into wedlock here Thursday in the midst of fights against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) here by more than 1,000 individuals, including ladies.
The service occurred under a shelter raised at the dissent scene at Aathupalam and was seen by the dissidents, who have been on a demonstration since Wednesday looking for withdrawal of the CAA, proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR).
The marriage was solemnized by an Imam, with the lady of the hour Reshma and husband to be Abdul Kalam exchaging pledges in the midst of trademarks against the new law. Relatives and those present at the scene favored the couple.
